My full name is William Erik Burton, named after my father, William Lynn. I am originally from Clovis, New Mexico, where I grew up until I was six. My dad was a music school teacher and eventually a high school principal. My mom is a stay-at-home mom, and I have four siblings, three sisters and one brother. I am the oldest of five. We moved to a little town just 10 miles east of Clovis called Farwell, Texas. I lived in Farwell until I was 19 years old.

Freedom Entrepreneur
I’ve had many different jobs after leaving Farwell. I have laid concrete and roofed houses, been a cook at several restaurants, and had my business mowing lawns and landscaping. Then when I was 23, I went to college for 4.5 years and had a music scholarship. I walked onto the Intercollegiate tennis team and made the squad.
College Graduate
I finished my degree in sociology and moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where I lived with a friend and drove a shuttle van all around Phoenix, taking people to and from the Fort McDowell casino. I also started teaching tennis part-time at Gainey Ranch Estate Club in Scottsdale, AZ. This leads me to teach and coach tennis full-time.

College Coaching Career
I eventually left Arizona in 2001 and headed for Albuquerque, New Mexico, and I was planning to attend the University of New Mexico to attain a Master’s degree in Tennis management. I taught at a local club and eventually volunteered as a coach for the University of New Mexico women’s Intercollegiate team. After a second year of coaching at UNM and the Ladies winning a Conference Title, I became a collegiate coach.
Western New Mexico Head Tennis Coach
In 2006, I was hired as the new Head coach at Western New Mexico University for the Men’s & Women’s tennis programs. After five years in Silver City, New Mexico, with 2 RMAC conference championships, three players of the year, and 3 Final Site NCAA appearances, I was named the Head Coach at the University of Nevada men’s program.
University Of Nevada Head Men’s Tennis Coach
Over four years as the Head Coach at Nevada, the program had 2 Mountain West Conference Players of the Year back-to-back years. First time in the history of the program. But eventually, because of the lack of funding that higher education is struggling with, I decided to start my own home-based business and be my boss.
